EKITI State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has carpeted President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim that many of those who looted public treasuries in the government of former president Goodluck Jonathan had started returning the stolen funds to the government. Fayose said the President should rather stay at home to govern the country instead of junketing around the globe and acting like a saint before the international community. The governor challenged Buhari to tell Nigerians how much was returned and name looters who returned stolen
There were
strong indications on Wednesday that the campaign organisation of the
late Kogi State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress,
Alhaji Abubakar Audu, was preparing a ground for the emergence of the
deceased’s son, Mohammed, as a replacement for his father. Audu died
on Sunday, a few hours after the Independent National Electoral
Commission declared the November 21 governorship poll in the state
inconclusive.
Small groups of demonstrators gathered throughout the day Wednesday to protest the death of a black teen shot 16 times by a white police officer, and they urged supporters to join them in trying to shut down Chicago's famous Michigan Avenue shopping district during the Black Friday shopping bonanza.
About two dozen protesters gathered outside Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office a day after authorities released the graphic video, footage that President Barack Obama said "deeply disturbed" him.
The video shows officer Jason Van Dyke, who was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, firing an entire magazine into 17-year-old Laquan McDonald.
The South African government has threatened a jail term for Chris Oyakhilome if his church, Christ Embassy, fails to release its financial records, the South African based News24 is reporting. The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities said several religious leaders in the country could be jailed if they fail to comply with the demands of the commission.

The raging controversy over the actual sum of money left in liquid currency when former governor Peter Obi of Anambra State handed over power in March last year has driven home the saying by British statesman, Winston Churchill that – “a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” This is more so because since Obi’s successor decided to break his 19-month old silence on the controversy, further revelations have shown Nigerians the factual account of Obi’s Handover Notes. A fierce duel between the representatives of the warring parties on Channels Television on Tuesday, November 18, 2015 offers us a veritable insight into the dispute.
Governor Obiano is still servicing the N1bn Commercial Agricultural Loan his predecessor, Peter Obi borrowed from the Federal Government for on lending to farmers in the State through the Ministry of Agriculture and All Farmers Association of Nigeria (ALFAN), Anambra Chapter.
Unfortunately, the loan was listed in his handover not as part of the phantom N75bn cash. It is not even an investment yet, Peter Obi’s Aide, Val Obienyem, has been shouting about that Anambra is taking a loan.
The
All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has thrown its weight behind
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State in the ongoing face-off between
him and his estranged predecessor by challenging the former Governor, Mr
Peter Obi, to produce evidence that he handed over N75bn to his
successor as claimed in his handover note to Obiano some 18 months ago.
