Aregbesola suggests N250 daily tax for 1 million Osun residents

OSUN State governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, on Monday, underscored the critical need for all taxable adults in the state to fulfill their civic responsibilities, through prompt payment of taxes, saying that such development was capable of enhancing the economy and collective prosperity of the state.
In a statement broadcast to commemorate the seventh anniversary of his administration, he stressed “every taxable adult in Osun State must view it as a patriotic duty to support the government with tax payment as and when due.

You were prominent in the PDP until recently. What factors would you say informed your sudden movement to the APC?
I would not want to believe that my decision to decamp to the APC was sudden. I rather see it as a result of careful calculation and observation of events since the last election that brought in the current administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. I carefully evaluated the progress being made by the administration in relation to the personal disposition of the governor. At the end of my evaluation, I concluded that it would be worthwhile to team up with this progressive governor and contribute to his drive for the development of the state.

Buahri Cautions Against Hate Speeches

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria must focus on rooting out hate as well as misrepresentation of religion and violence.
He said this at the Presidential Villa in Abuja today while launching the Policy Framework and National Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.
 `We must now while working together focus in rooting out hate, misrepresentation of religion and violence in our society," the president said.

Mama Taraba meets Buhari, keeps mum on Atiku

A loyalist of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who is also the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, today declined comment on Atiku's defection from the All Progressives Congress.
The minister met with Buhari after she, alongside other cabinet members, had attended the launch of the Policy Framework and National Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.
When approached by State House correspondents for an interview on Atiku's exit from the APC, the minister declined.

Kaduna Assembly suspends 2 PDP members

The Kaduna state House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended two of its members indefinitely from the House for allegedly engaging in some ‘manipulative activities’.
The affected lawmakers are: Mr Bityong Nkom (PDP-Kaura) and Mr Danladi Kwasu (PDP- zangon Kataf) .

Atiku’s exit: Accept my sympathy, Buhari tells Odigie-Oyegun

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sympathised with the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, over the exit of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from the party.

Buhari chose the venue of the inauguration of the Ama Pepple-led National Minimum Wage Committee to convey his sympathy to the party chairman, who was at the event along with top government officials.

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has criticised human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), over the allegation by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), linking the lawyer to a N1bn property on Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja.

 Fayose said it was embarrassing, shameful, disgraceful that a man of Falana’s standing, reputed to be a human rights activist, friend of the masses, crusader of justice and defender of democracy, could be linked to such a scandal.

Anambra 2017: Obiano's hypes and propaganda won't save him - Obaze

The governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, has said Governor Willie Obiano's continued expenditure of the state's resources on media hype and propaganda will not save him from the imminent loss. He said the only thing capable of securing the incumbent another mandate in a state like Anambra is visible dividends of democracy, not hype.

Speaking to Oraezue Non Natives, a group of non-indigenes resident in Nkpor, Idemmili North Local Government Area of the state, Obaze said Obiano's reelection bid has continued to suffer immense deficits, despite the enormous resources expended on media and publicity, because his government performed poorly.
