AbdulMumuni, one of the sons of the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late Chief Moshood Abiola, fondly referred to as MKO, speaks to Ashiwaju Media on his efforts to revamp his father’s legacy, 20 years after his father’s untimely death
Can you shed some light on the disagreement between you and your elder brothers over your father’s properties?
2018 makes 20 years since the passing of our benefactor, the late Chief MKO Abiola. I got back to Nigeria in 2007 and I started working. On my mum’s side of the family, I manage an NNPC mega station. I have been doing that since I got back to Nigeria. After that, I wanted to learn the way politics is played in Nigeria, I wanted to get some experience; so, I went to work with somebody I really respect and that is Governor Rauf Aregbesola. It was more on an unofficial capacity but I basically was able to get what I needed, like more experience and just knowledge about the political landscape.
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has ordered Fulani herdsmen to register with N5,000 in their host communities for identity and location.
He also told Serikin Fulani in the state, Muhammed Abashe, that he will be held responsible for any further attack in the state.
The governor, who was furious about the recent killing of a Tiv woman in Orin Ekiti by people suspected to be Fulani herders, said Abashe had failed in providing leadership by not stopping his kinsmen from destroying farms.
The Jama’atu Nasir Islam on Sunday said that the Christian Association of Nigeria is using herdsmen to destabilise Nigeria so as to achieve its “agenda.”
JNI added that CAN was overheating the polity ahead of the 2019 general election.
The Secretary General of the JNI, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, at a press conference in Kaduna while reacting to a statement credited to the Secretary General of CAN, Dr. Jonathan Asake, blamed the CAN for the current herdsmen attack in Benue State and other parts of the country.
Aliyu said, “We, nonetheless, make bold that CAN is deliberately covering up by using the herdsmen debacle as a franchise to perpetrate evil, as witnessed in the Book Haram tale.
Some people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday reportedly attacked the farm of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.
The farm is located at Ilado Village in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the hoodlums did not steal anything on the farm but burnt down five hectares of the farm which, according to a source, was the oil palm plantation.
Falae was kidnapped in September 2015 by the herdsmen but was released three days later following the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari who ordered the then Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomom Arase (rtd) to secure his release.
Falae’s Personal Assistant, Captain Moshood Raji, (rtd) confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
He said the extent of the damage could not be ascertained at the time of his conversation with our correspondent.
According to Mother Teresa, "we are not called to do great things. We are called to do little things but with great love".
And for natives and residents of Isuofia and neighboring communities in Aguata Local Government Area, Marcel Ofomata Foundation would go down history for not only doing great things but also for the great show of love.
From
