The Nigeria Postal Services is to create additional 250,000 jobs by 2020, an official said on Monday in Lagos.
The NIPOST Director of Information and Communication Technology, Mr Thomas Gaga, made the disclosure at the official launch of the Nigeria ICT Roadmap 2017-2020.
The occasion featured a sensitisation workshop on the roadmap.
The workshop had the theme: “The Role of the Private Sector in the Implementation of Nigeria ICT Roadmap”.
Gaga said that the jobs would be created through the implementation of the roadmap.
According to him, the implementation of the roadmap would enable NIPOST to create e-stamps, engage in e- commerce and generate more revenue.

An Aspirant in the just-concluded Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary election in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has urged the party’s leadership to declare him winner of the Saturday exercise.
Ogunbiyi told newsmen on Monday in Abuja that he was at the party’s National Secretariat to petition the leadership over the primary that produced Senator Ademola Adeleke as the flag-bearer for the September 22 poll.
Ogunbiyi narrowly lost to Adeleke, polling 1,562 votes as against 1,569 votes by the latter.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has again invited the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki to report to the Force Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja, for interrogation over alleged links to the masterminds of the Offa bank robberies.

The IG in a letter dated July 23 addressed to Saraki, asked him to report to the police on Tuesday (Today) at 8am to provide further clarification on his relationship with the five leaders of the robbery gang.
The robbers had attacked some commercial banks in Offa, Kwara State on April 5 during which nine policemen and 33 persons were killed.
Following the attack, the police arrested 27 suspects including five leaders of the gang and also recovered some AK47 rifles.

The Nigerian Hydrological Services Agency has said 14 local governments in Anambra State were at high risk of heavy flooding this year.
They include Onitsha North, where the home of the pioneer President of Nigeria, the late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe is located; Orumba North, home of a former vice president, the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme; Anambra East, home of Governor, Chief Willie Obiano; Anaocha, home of former governor Peter Obi and Aguata, home of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Others among the 14 local governments are Idemili North, Ogbaru, Anambra West, Njikoka, Ayamelum, Dunukofia and Onitsha South.

NEWSPAPER publishers in the country, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON; Editors and Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, have described the New Media Bill currently before the National Assembly as draconian, unconstitutional, anti-people, anti-business and anti-free speech. New Media Consequently, Nigerian Press Organisation, NPO, and other media stakeholders have asked the National Assembly to drop the bill. They also asked the Senate to borrow from best practices in other jurisdictions that had expressly provided for and guaranteed press freedom without any form of government interference. The NPO and others equally implored the Senate and, indeed, the National Assembly, to enable the media in the exercise of its constitutional obligations, as spelt out in section 22, by passing laws that will promote transparency, accountability and open government such as mandatory delivery of the State of the Nation address by the President and State of the State Address by governors on specified days of the year.
