It came as a rude shock to Nigerians when Charly Boy’s daughter, Dewy Oputa, revealed on social media that she is a lesbian.
She made this known on Instagram during the week by sharing photos and a video of herself and her girlfriend. While speaking with Sunday Scoop, Dewy said she shared the post because she got tired of hiding and decided it was time to live in her truth.
She said, “My mission for creating a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer platform is to provide a safe place for youths in the African community. I strive to create an accepting and welcoming community where everyone is free to express themselves and be loved for who they are. I want a place where individuals such as myself can create authentic friendships and thrive as the person they were born to be.”
Police in Spain have warned drivers against performing a viral dance challenge based on Canadian hip-hop superstar Drake’s latest hit “In my feelings”, saying they could face criminal charges.
Videos posted on social media with hashtags #InMyFeelings and #DoTheShiggy show people performing dance moves to fit with the lyrics of the song, with many even leaping from their cars before starting to dance.
Some videos end badly, with the vehicle hitting a street sign or a pedestrian.The dance challenge was created at the end of June by US social media personality Shiggy and it has been taken up by celebrities such as actor Will Smith and Real Madrid’s Brazilian star Marcelo who have posted videos of themselves doing silly dance moves along to the song.
The National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has expelled Senator Buruji Kashamu and three others from the party.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, stated this after the 80th meeting of the NEC in Abuja on Monday.
He said Kashamu and three others were expelled from the party for hobnobbing with the opposition.
Those expelled with Buruji, who represents Ogun East in the Senate are Semiu Sodipo, Bayo Adebayo and Segun Seriki.
They were alleged to have worked with the opposition in Ekiti State to deny the PDP victory in the election.

The NIPOST Director of Information and Communication Technology, Mr Thomas Gaga, made the disclosure at the official launch of the Nigeria ICT Roadmap 2017-2020.
The occasion featured a sensitisation workshop on the roadmap.

An Aspirant in the just-concluded Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary election in Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has urged the party’s leadership to declare him winner of the Saturday exercise.
Ogunbiyi told newsmen on Monday in Abuja that he was at the party’s National Secretariat to petition the leadership over the primary that produced Senator Ademola Adeleke as the flag-bearer for the September 22 poll.
Ogunbiyi narrowly lost to Adeleke, polling 1,562 votes as against 1,569 votes by the latter.

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has again invited the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki to report to the Force Intelligence Response Team office at Guzape, Abuja, for interrogation over alleged links to the masterminds of the Offa bank robberies.
The IG in a letter dated July 23 addressed to Saraki, asked him to report to the police on Tuesday (Today) at 8am to provide further clarification on his relationship with the five leaders of the robbery gang.
The robbers had attacked some commercial banks in Offa, Kwara State on April 5 during which nine policemen and 33 persons were killed.
Following the attack, the police arrested 27 suspects including five leaders of the gang and also recovered some AK47 rifles.

The Integrity Group (TIG) on Monday said that vote-buying was not only a criminal offence but the biggest threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
