Deputy speaker of Anambra state house of Assembly, Harford Oseke
has sent a save our soul message through a motion of urgent state importance,
requesting the state governor, Willie Obiano to direct the state commissioner
for works and road furniture to fix the erosion encroached portion of Agbana
village, boundary between Umuawulu and Nibo communities in Awka South LGA.
The motion was sent under mater of urgent public importance,
demanding a quick intervention by the state government to mitigate the erosion
encroachment that is threatening to cut the road into two.
Taking journalists round to inspect the level of depletion on
the road infrastructure, the lawmaker lamented that the road serves as a major
economic hub for transportation of both human and farm produce to the state
capital, Awka.
He called on the state government to salvage the situation, not
to allow the road to be cut off by the fast encroaching erosion devastation.
Describing the situation as pitiable that needs urgent
intervention, the people appealed to the government to rescue them from what
they refer to as a looming disaster that needs to be arrested fast.
The people however called for an urgent state mediation to
recover their road from been swept away by the threatening gully erosion.
