Lagos – Nigeria: Thursday, 24th August 2017: Leading telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, has restated its commitment to deepen the practice of the journalism profession by creating platforms and opportunities that will empower journalists to become more adept and proficient at their jobs.
Speaking at the flag-off of the prestigious Airtel Journalism Clinic, a multi-media training designed to bridge the gap between traditional and digital journalism practice, Vice President/Director, Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Nigeria, Emeka Oparah, said Airtel will continue to support interventions that will help journalists drive positive societal change through balanced and robust reporting.
Youths organisation under the auspices of Coalition of Anambra youths have warned aspirants planning to cause chaos during the forthcoming governoship election to stay clear from doing so or risk the wrath of the law.
They warned youths sponsored for such exercise to stay away from venues of either APC/PDP primaries or governorship election, adding that they would use force to instill discipline during the exercise.
Briefing newsmen in Awka, the State Coordinator of Coalition of Anambra Youths, Onyebuchi Okoli said the move was to complement the efforts of the security agents following the death an Anambra youth during UPP primary last Saturday.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday, led over 200,000 members to the Parish Priest of Blessed Iwene Tansi, Umudioka, Dunukofia local government area of Anambra state, Rev Fr Emmanuel Obimma a.k.a Ebube Muonso for a thank you visit for upholding the truth always and for prayers.
Rev Fr Obimma who is also the founder and Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry Uke, Idemmili North local government council of Anambra State, received Nnamdi Kanu and his members appealing to them to ensure no breech of peace in whatever they do.
The Osita Chidoka Campaign Organisation thanks all members of our great party the United Progressive Party (UPP) and indeed all delegates to the last Saturday's governorship primary for their overwhelming support for Chief Osita Chidoka, leading to his emergence as the UPP candidate for the November 18, 2017 Anambra governorship election.
This unmatched support for Osita Chidoka indeed goes to show without equivocation that our people still identify, value and reward the undying Biafran spirit of hard work, resilience and determination.
This campaign office appreciates the labour and sacrifices of our supporters and volunteers who accompanied our candidate as he campaigned vigorously, day and night, touring all the 326 electoral wards and the 21 local governments in the state, reaching all delegates and members of the UPP across board ahead of the primary.
It will be recalled that the United Progressive Party (UPP) held its Governorship Primary Election on Saturday 19th August, 2017 at Awka, Anambra State. Two aspirants namely Hon. Chudi Offodile and Chief Osita Chidoka met the Party’s conditions to participate in the Primary election. It is important to note that UPP had held its non-election Convention at Awka on Thursday 29th June 2017. One of the highlights of that Convention that was well attended, monitored by INEC and extensively covered by local and international media is the ratification of the Motion recognizing the harmonization of the Officers of the Party in the 36 States of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as Officers functioning in acting capacities pending our subsequent election convention. This ratification at the Convention followed the approval of the appointment of these unelected officers by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party.

Unusual news popped out of Anambra State on
Sunday, August 6, 2017. The State’s long run of good press in security and
investment profile was suddenly interrupted with the insane massacres that took
place at St Philip’s Catholic Church on this day right in the course of holy
mass. Regardless of the casualty figures in dead and injured, the incident is
horrific as to ignite both outrage and benumbed silence. Yet, the sensitivity
of the incident begs against avoidable acts capable of aggravating the situation.
Unfortunately, even as the political and
security authorities are taking steps to contain the ramifications of the case,
hasty, uninformed and prejudiced comments have tended to blur and misrepresent
the issues.
Lagos – Nigeria: Thursday, 10 August, 2017: With 16 talents making the live shows of Airtel The Voice Nigeria season 2 already, contestants are set for ‘battles’ in the episode 9 of the competition on Sunday, 13th August, 2017 to claim a spot in the next phase.
Of the 16 talents through, four of them made it as a result of a steal. Coach Patoranking was the first to use his ‘stealing’ option, poaching Daniel from #TeamWaje. Coach Waje got hers back when she stole Favour from #TeamPato. Coach Timi Dakolo stole Wolei from #TeamYemi and Coach Yemi Alade didn’t mince words when she stole Wilson from #TeamWaje.
So far in the Battle Rounds, we have seen talents delivering enthralling performances of love songs for a spot in the live shows.
Nigerians have been urged to cultivate a habit of regular planting and nurturing of trees as a measure to combat erosion that has wrecked untold havoc to the environment.
Stakeholders say this measure is in compliance with the advocacy for the actualization of the Sustainable development goals SDGs, a veritable framework instituted to help in protection of earth from ozone layer depletion.
